Layer 8 Security’s Chief Digital Officer Joins the FDA Digital Health Advisory Committee
MALVERN, PA (September 4, 2024) – We’re proud to announce that Keith Wiley, Chief Digital Officer of Layer 8 Security, has been selected to join the U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s Digital Health Advisory Committee.
The Digital Health Advisory Committee advises the Commissioner of Food and Drugs on specific topics of Artificial Intelligence and Cybersecurity as they relate to assuring digital health technologies (DHTs) intended uses as a stand-alone medical product, part of a medical product, or as a companion, complement, or adjunct to a medical product are safe and effective for human use.
“My personal experience in DHTs is that they are critical to treating a multitude of chronic and non-chronic health related needs. The use and criticality of DHTs will continue to grow as personalized medicine becomes more capable,” said Keith Wiley. “Right now, the FDA faces significant challenges in keeping pace with the rapid advancements in AI, software, and medical device technology. While the agency strives to expedite the time it takes for innovative devices to reach the market, it must also prioritize the safety and integrity of these devices. I’m very honored to serve on this committee with a host of other professionals.”
Prior to his tenure at Layer 8 Security, Keith’s background in life sciences, medical devices, and cybersecurity provided him with leadership experience in functions including R&D, commercial, manufacturing, and IT. He successfully guided strategic initiatives from development to market introduction involving devices, biological products, and manufacturing plant builds.
